It’s late so... I’m gonna say mean things.

American Idiot is one of the most obnoxious examples of pandering to the youths in my lifetime. They were slipping their previous two albums and needed to stay relevant. Once the barrage of empowered edgy teens who knew everything about world issues (like me!) started becoming commerci ally appetizing, they cashed in. It’s what Incubus *tried* to do with A Crow Left of the Murder as well. See also, Smile Empty Souls’s debut album, and Anxiety.

Green Day squeezed every drop of blood out. Singles and singles, played seemingly hourly on the radio . Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday, American Idiot, and (UGH) freaking Boulevard of Broken Dreams. But it all aged poorly, seemingly overnight.

... Uh, sorry again for the negativity.

In my area the others didn’t get too much airplay, by boulevard got a stupid amount. The was kicked over the fence to the easy listening stations for something modern to counterbalance the Eagles.

Society is always a spectrum...social media just enables the echo chambers that people have always wanted.

This past year’s events in Hong Kong have made me lose a large clump of  brain cells. I recommend anyone in ‘Murica who thinks Asians are smart, to just visit Asia. They’re just as dumb (or smart) as any other society.
